Besides N-glycosyltransferase RebG, genes encode a monooxygenase RebC, methyltransferase RebM, transcriptional activator RebR, and halogenase RebH. A RebG gene disruption mutant produces the rebeccamycin aglycone but not rebeccamycin itself
