2.3.1.284
physiological function
acyltransferase Chp1 accepts a diacyl sulfolipid and transfers an acyl group regioselectively from one donor substrate molecule to a second acceptor molecule in two successive reactions to yield a tetraacylated product. Chp1 is fully active in vitro, but in Mycobacterium tuberculosis, its function is potentiated by sulfolipid transporter MmpL8

2.3.1.284
physiological function
Chp2 is essential for the final steps of polyacyltrehalose biosynthesis. Disruption of Chp2 leads to the loss of polyacyltrehalose and accumulation of tetraacyltrehalose as well as the accumulation of diacyltrehalose, implicating Chp2 as an acyltransferase acting downstream of PapA3. Chp2 activity is probably potentiated by the DAT/PAT transporter MmpL10
