FAD can promote fatty acid beta--oxidation by activating short-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (SCAD) expression and enzyme activity, and this way inhibit pathological myocardial hypertrophy and fibrosis in vitro and in vivo. Molecular dynamics simulations also demonstrate that FAD may play an important structural role on the SCAD dimer stability and maintenance of substrate catalytic pocket to increase the enzyme activity of SCAD
