Kinetically, for the two-electron reactions, the enzyme is more effective in dimethylsulfide oxidation than in dimethylsulfoxide reduction. Reduction of DMSOR by dimethylsulfide is incomplete below 1 mM dimethylsulfide but complete at higher concentrations.
