Upon deletion of the crp gene for attenuation purposes, BALB/c mice are orally immunized with the strains. Compared with a mock immunization, immunization with the vaccine strains induces significant serum IgG responses against both Salmonella typhimurium and Salmonella newport lipopolysaccharide 761133
