General Information

EC Number General Information Comment Organism
2.8.3.16 malfunction the podA- mutant does not inhibit Botrytis infection and oxalate toxicity, the defects are recovered by podA complementation Pseudomonas abietaniphila
2.8.3.16 physiological function PodA converts oxalate to formate and eliminates oxalate toxicity. Oxalate is a key component of virulent necrotic fungal pathogens. Pseudomonas abietaniphila strain ODB36 exhibits significant plant protective ability, e.g. against Bortrytis cinerea, which causes grey mould disease, on Arabidopsis thaliana (Col-0) leaves. PodA is required for the inhibition of Botrytis infection. Degrading oxalate at the onset of host pathogen interaction blocks the infection process Pseudomonas abietaniphila
