Schistosoma mansoni LAPs show strong expression in the mammalian stages, i.e. schistosomules, male and female adults worms. Isozyme SmLAP2 shows higher expression than SmLAP1 in miracidia and sporocysts. Although both genes are expressed throughout the cycle, SmLAP2 is highly expressed in the molluscan infective free-living developmental stage (miracidium) and intrasnail stages.
