In the embryos, axons arising from the epibranchial sensory ganglia do not form their stereotypical terminal fields in the hindbrain. The embryos also have small eyes and deformed jaws. Mutants do not exhibit elevated cell death, or gross morphological changes, in their hindbrains. Interference with glycosylation via tunicamycin treatment mimicks the phenotype Danio rerio
