General Information

EC Number General Information Comment Organism
2.6.1.5 physiological function Petunia hybrida utilizes a microbial-like phenylpyruvate pathway to produce phenylalanine, and flux through this route is increased when the entry point to the arogenate pathway is limiting. The plant phenylpyruvate pathway utilizes cytosolic tyrosine aminotransferase that links the coordinated catabolism of tyrosine to serve as the amino donor. The enzyme is able to functionally complement the Escherichia coli phenylalanine auxotrophic mutant DL39 which lacks the three aminotransferases, AspC (aspartate aminotransferase), TyrB (L-Tyrosine aminotransferase) and IlvE (branched-chain aminotransferase) Petunia x hybrida
