In Streptomyces coelicolor, disruption of either isoform lppalpha or lppbeta has no effect on triacylglycerol accumulation. The simultaneous mutation of both genes provokes a drastic reduction in de novo triacylglycerol biosynthesis as well as in total triacylglycerol content. Overexpression of Lppalpha and Lppbeta in the wild type strain of Streptomyces coelicolor leads to a significant increase in triacylglycerol production.
