physiological function tissue factor facilitates the activation of the enzyme thereby initiating the extrinsic coagulation pathway followed by the activation of factor X and thrombin formation. The enzyme functions in blood coagulation and maintenance of the hemostatic balance in the vasculature. The tissue factor:factor VIIa complex is one of the triggers of PAR-2 activation.
