General Information

General Information Comment Organism
physiological function deletion of the genes encoding lysine-2,3-aminomutase (ablA) and beta-lysine acetyltransferase (ablB) abolishes the production of N6-acetyl-beta-lysine. The mutant grows well at low and intermediate salinities. Growth at 800 mM NaCl is only slowed down but not impaired. The mutant displays an increased glutamate pool and in addition, alanine is produced up to 0.36 micromol per mg protein. The cellular alanine concentration increases with the salinity of the medium and decreases in the presence of glycine betaine in the medium Methanosarcina mazei
