General Information

General Information Comment Organism
physiological function Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri is the causal agent of citrus canker. Protein XAC2229 has quinone reductase activity using NADPH as an electron donor and also displays diaphorase activity. A deletion mutant shows less cankers and impaired epiphytic survival compared to the wild-type strain. Survival of the deletion mutant is impaired in the presence of H2O2 and it produces more reactive oxygen species and thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances than the wild type strain. Similar results are observed for Escherichia coli expressing the XAC2229 gene Xanthomonas citri
