Requires Mn2+. The enzyme, characterized from the flilamentous fungi Aspergillus nidulans and Aspergillus fumigatus, participates in the synthesis of fungal-type galactomannan and O-mannose-type galactomannan, which are embedded in the fungal cell walls. While the reaction shown here describes the transfer of one galactofuransyl residue, the enzyme can add up to 5 more galactofuranosyl residues.
