The enzyme has been isolated from the bacterium Chryseobacterium sp. 5-3B. Reduced activity has been observed with L-2-phenylglycine methyl ester, L-2-chlorophenylglycine and L-4-hydroxyphenylglycine.

The expected taxonomic range for this enzyme is: unclassified Chryseobacterium
