A quinoprotein. Phenazine methosulfate and 2,6-dichloroindophenol can act as acceptors. Also acts, more slowly, on 2-hexanol and some other secondary alcohols. cf. EC 1.1.99.8 alcohol dehydrogenase (acceptor) and EC 1.1.99.20 alkan-1-ol dehydrogenase (acceptor).
