additional information deletion of 21 amino acids from the COOH-terminus of isoform SphK1, expression of residues 1-363, results in about 2.2fold increase in catalytic activity relative to wild-type SphK1, which is independent of the phosphorylation state of Serine 225 and stimulation by phorbol-12,13-myristic acid. HEK-293 cells stably expressing the truncated protein exhibit enhanced cell growth under serum-deprived cell culture conditions.
