recombinant OPCL1 is active against both 12-oxo-phytodienoic acid and 3-oxo-2-(2'-[Z]-pentenyl)cyclopentane-1-octanoic acid, as well as medium-to-long straight-chain fatty acids. OPCL1 readily accepts 14:0 and 18:1 fatty acid substrates, cf. EC 6.2.1.3, but has little or no activity with shorter chain substrates such as hexanoic and octanoic acids
