the use of an ammonium ion-selective composite material, based on polyaniline and copper is reported for use as a transducer in electrochemical hydrolase-based urea and creatinine biosensors. The experimental designs and analytical performance of the biosensors are detailed together with their application for the determination of creatinine and urea in serum samples from patients with chronic kidney disease. A combination of creatinine deaminase and urease is chosen as a model system to demonstrate the construction of urea and creatinine biosensors to illustrate the principle
